Making a Robot in Discovery Time

Today Kodi and Riley made an amazing robot.  They described all of the different parts of it:

Warm Pacific Greetings - please help us!

We're currently learning the song Warm Pacific Greetings and would love your support in helping go over it at home.

We've slowed the tempo to help make learning the words easier, though when we perform it, it will be a bit faster.

Thanks for your help!

What's What in Our Online Spaces

Hi everyone,

We've got a number of online spacing running in LH1, as most of you are aware.  To help you understand what can be found in each different site, we've created this presentation for you.  Please have a flick through and familiarize yourself with them - hope to see you on Thursday if you need any help using these sites!

We'd also love your feedback on these sites.  Please click here to share your thoughts.

Netball today

Today we have some special visitors come in to teach us all netball.  We learnt some new skills and practiced them.  Here are some learners sharing their thoughts.  Click the play button and please be patient, the photos will turn over (they're just a little slow) for you to hear everyone's ideas.

Need some help on the computer?

Before you throw your computer out the window, can we help?

We'd love to offer our assistance on Thursday 8th of August (next Thursday) at 3.10pm in the hub.  If you need help getting on the blog, learning site, parent forum or interacting on any of these, we'll be available to help.  I'll create a little presentation for you to watch before hand outlining what we use each site for which should make the afternoon very practical.

This is certainly not a required session as many of you are already using the blog (and commenting, thank you!) with great success - it is instead just an invitation of help should you like it.

Hope to see some of you on Thursday.

Thanks!

Cultural Day in LH1

We've had such a great time today in Learning Hub One - it's been Cultural Day!

Here we are in the morning.  We were really proud of ourselves as every single learner was able to talk on the microphone to say where they come from!

We paraded through the school showing off our cultural dress and recorded what we thought of our clothes...

Would you believe that Kyan (who was dressed as a New Zealand farmer) even arranged for some lambs to come and visit us?!  Here we are with Lily and Simba.  We asked lots of really good questions at the end of their visit.  Thank you Kyan and your Mum for organising this amazing surprise!

We sketched picture of each other in our cultural dress and had to pay close attention to the details.

Then in the afternoon, some of our big buddies from Learning Hub Three came to perform some of their Kapa Haka waiatas and hakas.  We were very lucky to get a private performance!

We had a fun day today celebrating all of our different cultures!!

Learners and parents, please share your comments and thoughts either in this box below or by leaving a comment...

Alvyn and Kaichi build sky tower!

Sky tower is cool. We collaborated to make the tower.  The sky tower was wiggly. The sky tower was high. I love sky towers. - Kaichi
We take a photo of it. We also made it out of wood. It gets wiggly when we build it higher and higher. - Alvyn
