From our own Well being to that of others...

We have been learning about participating and contributing, here is our thinking....

Monday, 13 November 2017

It is time to give back!

In hub 11 & 12 we are learning about what we need to make sure our well being is looked after, Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels within a pyramid. Our most basic need is for physical survival, and this will be the first thing that motivates our behaviour. Once that level is fulfilled the next level up is what motivates us, and so on. If you look at the pyramid - you will notice that the most basic need in a person's like is food, water, warmth and rest is something that many of us have readily available. Let's put our feet in somebody else's shoes just for a moment - There are people in our communities who do not have access to this basic need.

Hub 11 & 12 are looking at ways we can help - As 5 and 6 year olds what can we do that can make a difference ?

Talk at home with your learners about some of the things that you can do! Watch this space ... we have exciting learning to come.

The earth is our mother

Papatūānuku is our mother,
Papatūānuku we must take care of her.

Papatūānuku is our mother,
Papatūānuku she must take care of us.

Kia Kaha Kia Kaha

Her sacred ground we walk upon,
with every step we take. x2

Kia Kaha Kia Kaha X2

Papatūānuku is our mother,
Papatūānuku we must take care of her.

Papatuanuku is our mother,
Papatūānuku she will take care of us.

Kia kaha kia kaha X2

Learning how to collaborate made fun.

In professional development this week hub 11 & 12 teachers discussed areas of the graduate profile that we felt we could further promote and strengthen our knowledge of within the hubs.

Collaboration was an area we felt we could develop - although we talk a lot about collaboration we felt our learners were not confident in explaining what this actually meant. So today we took 20 hub 12 learners along with hub 11 to share what it means to collaborate effectively.

Here are some photos of a few of the activities we participated in.
