How can we help at home? Washing up the cups in writing this week......

We built our knowledge......

by bringing what we already know about washing up.

We predicted how we might wash up ......

We collaborated and drew our picture plan to record our thinking ....

We shared our ideas back to the writing group.

We got our equipment.

We made lots of bubbles.

We practiced....

and practiced....

and practiced...

washing up....

......

scrubbing......

and cleaning....

drying ....

and putting away the clean cups.

Poetry time!

During poetry time we were set the challenge of collaborating to find the rhyming words in the poem, About Feet.  Can you hear them in our recording?

Some of us also really thought about our expression to make the recording more interesting for you!

Fixing up Miss Holland's writing

Today in writing our writing group gave me feedback on my writing.

We broke it into two different parts - one was about how I could fix up the writing that I had already done, and the other part was helping me with ideas on what I could add or do differently.

Here they are sharing their feedback with me about how I could improve my writing...

Then we gave each other feedback.

Here's LH1 giving each other feedback and buddy conferencing each other during writing time...

Maths Strand - learning about time

We have been learning how to order events, including drawing and writing about our favourite time at school.

Mrs Panapa taught us about the days of the week in Maori and we made them into a chain. The order of school events are up on the window in hub 1.

Netball today

Today we have some special visitors come in to teach us all netball.  We learnt some new skills and practiced them.  Here are some learners sharing their thoughts.  Click the play button and please be patient, the photos will turn over (they're just a little slow) for you to hear everyone's ideas.

Joe teaches us how to play Balloon Joining Words

Joe's such a pro at this game that he decided to teach you all how to play.  Click here to play for yourself.

Mums and dads, this is a great game that you can play at home with your children, to help teach them correct grammar.

Break Through today!

Many groups have been putting a lot of time and effort into their Break Through projects this term and many are starting to come to an end.  Here's a bit of a Break Through round-up for you.

Building Group:

They have boats in Lego City and some bridges and houses and buildings.  To make the bridges we had to push the tables a little bit open and we put the bridges in the middle of them.  The bridges are used for the people that go to the boats and the cars.

Drama Group:

First showing...

After the first go, we shared some feedback.  We reflected and said that it might be more interesting if the different actors said and did things.  Do you agree?

So the group practiced and reflected some more to give this performance:

We reflected again and gave this feedback.  We liked the way that the actors said and did things when it was their turn and we liked how they spoke clearly.  We think their next steps could be to remember when it's their turn and they might like to practice more to help them remember.  Well done everyone!

List words at the Beach!

Joe is such a super star learner that even when he goes to the beach, he is thinking about his list words and his learning!  Here is is to tell you about it:

When I went to Devonport Beach, I practiced my list words with a big stick but it broke but I didn't care because on the other side it wasn't broken.  I used the other side to write my list words.  Some of them were tricky and when I wrote 'Mum' and 'Dad', they were hard.  'Can' and 'the' were quite easy.  Mrs Jackson told me today that she thinks I'm doing great at writing.  She said I was making connections between phonics and my writing.  That makes me feel good and happy!

Welcome to the Collaboration Assembly

Hi parents,

It's Ashikka, Isabelle, Lily and Joe here.  This Friday is the collaboration assembly and we are doing the mirror collaborating with each other.  We have been building our learning capacity by talking and copying each other.

This is us practicing:

We would like it if you could see the whole thing on Friday morning.  If you come, you will also see Shayan in assembly.
