Keeping our 'Children' Safe!

Today we started a new concept writing focus.

Some of our learners decorated biscuits to turn them into our children... we then made carry bags and containers for them to go home in.  Over the next few days we're going to be taking our children with us and doing our best to keep them safe.  I wonder what they might get up to!

Feel free to decorate them at home and take photos of what they do after and before school - be sure to keep them safe.

Brushing our teeth

We have been talking about brushing our teeth with Ginger over the last two weeks, the children have been very helpful to Gingers friend Honey Bear who needed to go visit the dentist.

They have explained to them how to brush their teeth and made posters.

Some of our learners thought it might be useful, to make a movie for new learners to Stonefields School, about how to get ready in the morning before school.

Halves and Quarters

In maths today some of us had a go at halving and quartering some simple shapes.  We also learnt what a half and a quarter look like when we write them as numbers.

Friday Morning Poetry

Each Friday we look at new poems in the hub.  Here's one of our groups practicing one of the poems, in which they focused on punctuation and expression (especially around the question marks).

Making play dough

In learning hub 1, Miss Hinge has been working with a group of children to boost their skills in literacy.  As part of widening vocabulary, we made play dough today!

Making Connections in Phonics

We've all been learning lots about letter sounds and how to use this understanding in our writing.  Some of the groups have been robotting to help them break down the sounds in words and some have been looking at words with the same middle and end sounds.  Here are some of the rhyming words we've found.  Can you think of any others?

Welcome to the Collaboration Assembly

Hi parents,

It's Ashikka, Isabelle, Lily and Joe here.  This Friday is the collaboration assembly and we are doing the mirror collaborating with each other.  We have been building our learning capacity by talking and copying each other.
